But I’ll tell you a secret all the best people are.” For instance, suppose it were nine o’clock in the morning, just time to begin lessons: you’d only have to whisper a hint to Time, and round goes the clock in a twinkling! Half-past one, time for dinner!” Now, if you only kept on good terms with him, he’d do almost anything you liked with the clock. “Ah! that accounts for it,’ said the Hatter. “Perhaps not,’ Alice cautiously replied: `but I know I have to beat time when I learn music.’ `I dare say you never even spoke to Time!’ “Of course you don’t!’ the Hatter said, tossing his head contemptuously. “I don’t know what you mean,’ said Alice. “If you knew Time as well as I do,’ said the Hatter, `you wouldn’t talk about wasting it. `I think you might do something better with the time,’ she said, `than waste it in asking riddles that have no answers.’ “I keep them to sell,” the Hatter added as an explanation “I’ve none of my own. “Stolen!” the King exclaimed, turning to the jury, who instantly made a memorandum of the fact. “Take off your hat,” the King said to the Hatter. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn’t be. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t. “If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. “Then you shouldn’t talk,” said the Hatter. “Really, now you ask me,” said Alice, very much confused, “I don’t think-” Here are some of the most famous Mad Hatter Quotes from the Lewis Caroll classic Alice in Wonderland: In this brief guide, we will discuss some of the best Mad Hatter Quotes, as well as other related topics about Alice in Wonderland. In addition, a dimensional scoring component has been added to the SCID-5-PD. Although the DSM-IV Personality Disorder criteria are unchanged in DSM-5, the SCID-5-PD interview questions have been thoroughly reviewed and revised to optimally capture the construct embodied in the diagnostic criteria. The SCID-5-PD name reflects the elimination of the multiaxial system in DSM-5. Designed to build rapport, the SCID-5-PD can be used to make personality disorder diagnoses, either categorically (present or absent) or dimensionally. The Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 Personality Disorders (SCID-5-PD) is the updated version of the former Structural Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis II Personality Disorders (SCID-II) to assess the 10 DSM-5 Personality Disorders across Clusters A, B, and C. 1 Clinician Version User’s Guide $130.Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 Personality Disorders (SCID-5-PD)įirst, M.B., Williams,J.B.W., Benjamin L.S., & Spitzer, R.L. Please note: Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 Personality Disorders (SCID-5-PD) Note that the SCID-5-CV is an abridged and reformatted version of the SCID-5-RV (Research Version). For example, it can ensure that all of the major DSM-5 diagnoses are systematically evaluated in adults, characterize a study population in terms of current psychiatric diagnoses, and improve interviewing skills of students in the national health professions, including psychiatry, psychology, psychiatric social work, and psychiatric nursing.Įnhancing the reliability and validity of DSM-5 diagnostic assessments, the SCID-5-CV will serve as an invaluable interview guide. The SCID-5-CV can be used in a variety of ways. It also screens for 17 additional DSM-5 disorders. The SCID-5-CV covers the DSM-5 diagnoses most commonly seen in clinical settings: depressive and bipolar disorders, schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, anxiety disorders (panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder), obsessive-compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and adjustment disorder. The SCID-5-CV is an abridged and reformatted version of the Research Version of the SCID, the structured diagnostic interiew most widely used by researchers for making DSM diagnoses for the past 30 years. Interview questions are provided along each corresponding DSM-5 criterion, which aids in rating each as either present or absent. Interview subjects may be either psychiatric or general medical patients – or individuals who do not identify themselves as patients, such as subjects in a community survey of mental illness or family members of psychiatric patients. The Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 Clinician Version (SCID-5-CV) is a semi-structured interview that guides the clinician step-by-step through the DSM-5 diagnostic process (formerly diagnosed on Axis 1). The issue is that the links only point to your website because it promises something in return, when in fact they are only there to increase traffic to another page you own and its popularity. This is done in order to profit from the pay-per-click (PPC) advertisements on these websites or pages. Link farming occurs when multiple websites or pages link to your website. This tactic involves using irrelevant keywords on a webpage (such as on the homepage or in metadata tags) to make it appear more relevant for particular keywords, deceiving people who visit the site. Entryway pages are designed to deceive search engines so that they cannot index or rank a website for synonymous keywords or phrases.Īnother form of black hat search engine optimization (SEO) is known as keyword stuffing, which involves repeatedly using the same keywords to try to trick search engines. Accordingly, the substance of these entryway pages is stowed away from both the clients and the web indexes. One of the most famous black hat methods is to utilize nasty "entryway pages," which are intended only for watchwords. A data breach that occurred between May and July of 2017 exposed more than 145 million customer records, making the national credit bureau Equifax another victim of black hat hackers. In addition, the adult website Adult FriendFinder was hacked in October 2016 and over 412 million customer records were taken. From 2013 to 2014, black hat hackers broke into Yahoo and stole 3 billion customer records, making it possibly the largest data breach ever. Data breaches have been on the rise for some time. The United States experienced a record number of 1,862 data breaches in 2021, according to the Identity Theft Resource Center's 2021 Data Breach Report. The hackers can then use this information to smear a business or government agency, sell it on the dark web, or extort money from businesses, government agencies, or individuals. In a data breach, hackers can steal the financial, personal, or digital information of customers, patients, and constituents. The big data breaches that make headlines are the work of black hat hackers. Decryption tools were made available by security experts within days of WannaCry's appearance, limiting extortion payments to approximately $120,000, or slightly more than 1% of the potential haul. Around 400,000 computers in 150 countries were infected by it in the first two weeks of its release. One example of black hat activity was the WannaCry ransomware in May 2017. The term "black hat" comes from the color scheme used in westerns from the 1950s, in which the bad guys wore black hats, and the good guys wore white or other light colors. For some, cybercrime may be an addictive experience.Ĭountries initially affected in WannaCry ransomware attack Black hat hackers can be involved in cyber espionage or protest, in addition to pursuing personal or financial gain. They also create malware, a form of software that lets them access computer networks, monitor their victims' online activities, or lock their victims' devices. They are usually knowledgeable about infiltrating computer networks and getting around security protocols. īlack hat hackers can be novices or experienced criminals. Even though hacking has become an important tool for governments to gather intelligence, black hats still tend to work alone or with organized crime groups to make easy money. Some hackers modify or destroy data in addition to stealing it. Malware can also be used to hold computers hostage or destroy files. This information is often then sold on the dark web. They may distribute malware that steals data (particularly login credentials), financial information, or personal information (such as passwords or credit card numbers). Description Ĭriminals who intentionally enter computer networks with malicious intent are known as "black hat hackers". A third category is the gray hat, a person who hacks with good intentions but sometimes without permission. A black hat is contrasted with a white hat. Black hat hackers aim to hack into any system for their own profit or out of malice. The term originates from 1950s westerns, when bad guys typically wore black hats and good guys white hats. For other uses, see Black hat.Ī black hat ( black hat hacker or blackhat) is a computer hacker who usually violates laws or typical ethical standards. Adult wolf-eels mate between October and April, although research has revealed that most nests will appear from December to March within the greater Puget Sound area. With some mated pairs, even this does not appear to be an ironclad rule, with the occasional female abandoning the loser of a fight between males to share a den with the victor. The new research has revealed that wolf-eels indeed do appear to be loyal mates, but apparently only on a fairly seasonal basis rather than for a lifetime. This fact was the result of previous studies conducted in aquariums and on casual observations in the wild in which individual fish were not clearly identified with certainty. In the past it was regarded as a well-known fact that wolf-eels mated for life. Recent studies conducted by Tony Parra, Wayne Palsson, and Robert Pacunski, Marine Fish Biologists with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, have revealed much new information regarding the life cycle of wolf-eels and also debunked a few myths. Life cycle of the rich and famous (and ugly!) In both the American Pacific Northwest and in British Columbia, Canada, the prevailing attitude among divers regarding wolf-eels is that of both affection and protection. Some dive sites, such as Sunrise Wall near Tacoma, are well known as locations where wolf-eels interact with divers and can be hand fed as part of a unique photo opportunity. This is not because they are endangered, but simply because their value as a living resource to divers and photographers far exceeds whatever commercial value the species could possibly provide as a source of food. In the state of Washington, the wolf-eel is now a protected species in both Puget Sound and Hood Canal. In many of the native tribes in the area, the tasty wolf-eel was reserved as a ritual food to be consumed only by a tribal shaman, never by ordinary men and women. Throughout history, wolf-eels have been held in deep respect by the peoples of the northern Pacific. Capable of growing to approximately eight feet in length, these massive fish are speculated to live up to 10 years, although documentation of their longevity is currently lacking in available research. The popular name, wolf-eel, comes from the large frontal canine-like teeth that these fish use in seizing their prey, mainly hard-shelled crustaceans and invertebrates. The second half of the name, ocellatus, is Latin for eye-like spots, which is a pretty apt description of the wolf-eels skin. Anarrhichthys comes from the Greek word Anarhichas, which is a Greek fish that the wolf-eel resembles. Its scientific name, Anarrhichthys ocellatus, comes from both Greek and Latin. Divers travel from all over the world to glimpse these fascinating creatures and they go through all manner of underwater gyrations to get the perfect photo that proves that they, too, were able to ∽ance with Wolfies.Īctually a wolf fish, not an eel, the wolf-eel can be found as far south as San Diego in southern California, then northward to the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. Theres something about the supremely ugly face of an adult wolf-eel staring at you from its den that will turn an ordinary dive into a great one - poor visibility, terrible weather, rotten currents - all will be forgotten and forgiven once a Wolfie makes a public appearance. Get any group of divers together in the Pacific Northwest and ask them to reach a consensus on what the requirements are for a really GREAT dive, and invariably one of the things they will ultimately agree on is that a wolf-eel will somehow be involved. After much reflection, Im convinced that the make-up artists for the film MUST have taken their inspiration from the divinely ugly mugs of big male Wolfies. Last year I attended a local showing of the Hollywood blockbuster, Lord of the Rings. Frequently, the heroes of the film were attacked by masses of hideous, howling and slathering Orcs. I was absolutely struck by how much the Orcs resembled one of my favorite underwater creatures here on the west coast, the wolf-eel.
